Meets 100% power demand with 0.14% of county land
177 MW of energy produced
200 Construction jobs created
The Details
Morris Ridge Solar Energy Center is a new 177MW (AC) PV solar energy facility that will generate clean, renewable electricity to power 47,000 NY Homes local to the project area. This project encompasses nearly 1,100 acres of total disturbance in Livingston County, NY and is the largest solar project to-date in New York State. The Wesson Group is the civil contractor on the project, responsible for the following:Â
Scope of Work
Completion of all mass earthwork
Clearing & grubbing
Installation of 55,000 LF of site roads and all associated infrastructure
Installation of 50 acres of laydown yards for component stagingÂ
All erosion & sediment control installationsÂ
Installation of landscaping buffers bordering the facility array areas
Reclamation activities upon project completion
The Challenge
This project had an aggressive overall schedule, all The Wesson Group installations were to be completed within 6 months. We were able to beat this schedule and allow follow-on work to progress ahead of schedule.
The Result
The organized and fast-paced approach to project start-up allowed The Wesson Group to complete critical infrastructure and grading sitewide to allow the project to progress on schedule. Since all follow-on work relied on The Wesson Group to complete civil construction timely and accurately, it was a great success to be able to turn work areas over to the client ahead of schedule despite the project receiving permitting approval later than originally anticipated. We were able to bring our NYS experience to the forefront and keep the project moving and in good standing with NYS regulatory agencies during our scope of work.
