The Details
This project was located in Rodman, NY, for the Development Authority of the North Country, and the primary goal was to expand the landfill into previously undeveloped areas and to increase the capacity of the Rodman Landfill for future cell expansions and operations. The Wesson Group’s scope of work created the earthwork and infrastructure necessary to allow DANC to continue their landfill operations for decades to come.
Scope of Work
850,000 CY cut-to-fill earthwork
Initial earthwork of two new landfill cells
Construction of new stormwater collection system and stormwater ponds in the new expansion area
Development of 1.6 miles of new access roads to the new southern area and soil borrow areas for future landfill expansion
Installation of precast box culverts
The Challenge
The Rodman Landfill expansion was constructed at a fully operational landfill facility. The Wesson Group personnel worked closely with the landfill operations team to minimize construction impacts to the ongoing landfill operations. Scheduling was critical on this project in order to meet the strategic plan for the facility and prepare future landfill cells for future landfilling.
The Result
Project was completed on schedule with no impacts to operations. Future expansion at the facility was set up for twenty years of additional operation.
