The Wesson Group Donates to the Parkhurst Field Development Project

Updated: Jun 14

In August of 2022, as Phase One construction concluded on Harrison Street in Gloversville, the Parkhurst Field Foundation announced a significant donation from The Wesson Group. This generous contribution, alongside the commitment from The Tim and Tina Delaney Family Foundation, has been instrumental in advancing the development of a historic baseball field.

The $50,000 donation from The Wesson Group enabled the construction of a 500-person capacity grandstand and infrastructure planning for new baseball fields as part of Phase 1 of the multi-phase $3.5M development plan. This initiative will create five regulation-lighted fields capable of hosting standard Little League-aged or 50/70 tournament teams nationwide. It includes a premier field on the original 1906 home plate location of A., J.& G. Park, new batting cages, a concession stand, and amenities on the nine-acre park.

Tim Delaney, President of The Wesson Group, said, "One of our core goals is contributing to projects that focus on community betterment. We are proud to be a part of this community and look forward to seeing the success of the Parkhurst Field and the opportunities it's providing to our community".

With this generous donation, the first phase of the long-awaited baseball stadium project in Gloversville nears completion. The total two-stage project is projected to cost $3.6 million with significant progress already underway thanks to contributions like those from The Wesson Group. Their support helps settle outstanding bills and paves the way for future construction phases.

"This is paying off the bills and getting us ready for the next phase. Without it, we would've had a challenge getting through phase one," said David Karpinski, executive director of the Parkhurst Field Foundation. As plans progress for phase two, which includes additional fields, commemorative brick walkways, parking space, batting cages, and a vintage train tribute, the community eagerly anticipates this revitalized complex's continued growth and impact.

The Wesson Group's donation to Parkhurst Field Development Project reflects our commitment to our communities. We are honored to support projects that enhance our neighborhoods and bring people together. Our belief in making a positive difference drives us to invest in initiatives that create lasting benefits for all. As construction moves forward and plans unfold for future phases, the impact of these contributions will be felt not only in Gloversville but throughout the region as Parkhurst Field becomes a hub for sports, recreation, and community engagement.
